Justice is the difference between what is right and what is wrong, and how the law handles situations were there needs to be reinforcement. Also, justice is punishment and making sure everyone and everything is fair. Justice is portrayed in the story when Atticus was deffending Tom Robinson because Mayella Ewell accused him of raping her. Justice was not what happened in the story, thought. They took a racist jury, and gave them all the facts, of the defendants and the accusers, and they still said guilty because it was a white girl who said this against a black man. They said that he did do it. although it would be close to impossible for Tom to rape a girl because he cant use his left arm. Tom Robinson being able to rape Mayella, is like pigs being able to fly. It just cant happen.
Justice is doing the right thing. For example Atticus does the right think by standing up for Tom Robinson in court. Also, Atticus uses justice in court every day and he does the right thing. King Kong222
That is not what justice is King Kong. Justice is when everybody has equal rights. In this book, there is no justice for the black people because the whole court and jury are white and racist, they have no chance to win a fight so they will go to jail for something they might not of done anything. Like Tom Robinson, I don’t think he raped Mayella because when she was at the stand, she was all nervous. hobo216
Justice is when what is when you get what you deserve or lack there of. In this book injustice is portrayed with Tom Robinson, He is innacent of raping Mayella but is found guilty then sentaced to death. ~Melanie B
DirtRider220 Justice is always doing the right even when in the wrong. That means you should always do the right thing even if you did something bad. Atticus does the right thing by choosing not to be racist and defend Tom Robinson. Atticus does the right thing by going to court and not lying every time he has to defend someone. Mayella Ewell shows injustice because she accuses Tom Robinson of rape because of his color. One day Mayella asked Tom for help and she kissed him and wanted him to kiss her back. I think her father beat her up for kissing a black man. But told her to accuse Tom because he was there, he is black, and the judge will probably believe the white men because of the racist town. These are examples of justice and injustice.
Justice is an enforcement of the law that makes anyone who commits a crime gets punished and that the victim get's a fair trial. Injustice is portrayed in the story when tom robinson is convicted of rape even though it is possible he didn't do it. Justice is portrayed in the story when Justice is when atticus defends the lack man tom robinson. It reminds me of a real life situation in which Sean Bell a black man is shot 50 times by police officers who reloaded their guns. Sean Bell died and this is injustice for being shot 50 times unarmed i believe this is an act of racism. citykid215
Jusitice is when you do the right thing rather than the wrong thing. Atticus showed justice in the court. He showed it by defending Tom in court even though he has a differnet color skin. Also Mayella showed justice because Tom robinson had a different color skin and she still accused him about rapping her. Shannin E
Justice is when you get you you get what you deserve. Tom Robinson did not get justice, when Mayella Ewell said that he had raped her when he did not. He did not because he was chareged guilty. I can connect this to my life because when i was younger my sister always started the fights and i got in trouble for it.
Justic is showing the right thing rather than showing the wrong. I agree with Shannon E, because atticus was able to show justice in court. He did the right thing rather than the wrong. He stood up for himself rather than battling wiht Mayella gref. Jessica K
Justice is doing the right thing. In the story Atticus shows justice by defending Tom Robinson. He tried his best to defend Tom even when most people were against Tom because he was black. Injustice is showed in the story because most people are racist and treat colored people differently, which is not fair at all. I can connect the Tom Robinson trial to the Scottsboro boys trial. These were similar trials, but in the end I think the Scottsboro boys had a fairer trial.
Justice in the book is used to show guilty vs. innocent. One example is in the courtroom with Atticus. He says in his closing statement a lot about being guilty or innocent. I predict that justice will be more of a factor later in the book.
Justice is when someone tries to serve for the right laws of the country you are in. Justice in the book to Kill a Mockingbird is sorted out when Mayella blames Tom Robinson on raping her. They go to court and try to solve things of what they did wrong. BY: Julian S.
Justice is doing the right thing. Atticus does the right think by standing up for Tom Robinson in court. Also, Atticus uses justice in court every day and he does the right thing. It was justice when they went to court to prove if Tom Robinson commited a crime. In the courtroom, Atticus says a lot about being guilty and innocent. For example, Atticus does the right think by standing up for Tom Robinson in court. Also, Atticus uses justice in court every day and he does the right thing. Tom Robinson does not get justice when Mayella says that he raped me when he didn't dirtbikerider619
Justice is when something good happens or someone does something good. One example of justice in the story is when Boo Radley stitched Jem’s pants back together after he ripped them on the fence. That was justice because he did something good. An example of something injustice was when Mayella lied about being rapped. This is injustice because she lied and did something bad. An example of justice that I saw in a movie is when this superhero called superman gets a justice award for saving people’s lives. Nikeshoes607
Injustice in this story is really displayed in the Tom Robinson trial. It is showed by the evidence that Atticus gave to support that Tom was innocent. The injustice is that they still found him guilty simply because the color of his skin is a different color than the rest of them. RJ M
Justice/injustice is shown in To Kill a Mockingbird because at Tom Robinson's trial, the jury doesn't give him a fair trial. Even though all the facts Atticus gave made it obvious that Tom was innocent, the jury still said that Tom was guilty. This reminds me of the book Mississippi Trial. The young black boy in the book whistled to a white woman and he got lynched. This is also injustice. There is a lot of injustice in To Kill a Mockingbird and in many other books. David K.
Justice defines fairness or what is right and what is wrong. This story portrays injustice. They locked up Tom Robinson because he is black and the jury is all white. Janiboy!!!
Justice is when you get what you diserve for the actions that you do. Justice can be good or bad depending on what you do. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee injustice is shown when Tom Robinson is proven juilty when all the evidence sayse that he I not juilty. Injustice is also shown in Mississippi Tryal 1955 for the same reason. The black man is beaten really bad for looking at a white woman.
Justice is getting what you deserve. There is injustice in this story because Tom Robinson had been wrongly accused of a crime. All of the evidence points to Mayella setting him up to get into trouble. This same thing happened in Of Mice and Men when Lenny was shot because he kept getting into trouble. He deserved that because it Kept on putting Georges job in Jeopardy.
Justice is doing what is fair and right. It is treating everyone equally and giving all fair consequences. Injustice is portrayed in the novel when Tom Robinson is accused of rape and found guilty. Every bit of evidence points to him being innocent, but they still convict him. An example of justices is when Jem decides to cut all the tops of Mrs. Dubose’s flowers, he gets punished. He did something wrong, so he had to pay the consequences. I can connect to this topic because in school, kids have to go through detention if they do something inappropriate or troublesome. Justice is a very big theme in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Justice means to for the right thing to be done. Justice and injustice is shown in many areas of the book. One time was injustice is shown is that when Tom Robinson was convicted of raping Mayella. The evidence clearly showed that it was highly unlikely that Tom Robinson had done it but still was accused of raping Mayella. Another area were injustice was shown was when Jem cut Mrs. Dubose’s flowers. But later Justice was shown when Atticus made Jem go read to Mrs. Dubose everyday for a month for 2 hours. I can relate to this because everyday at school get detentions for their bad actions. This shows Justice. The Man 411
Justice is doing what is right regardless of what others think. In this book justice is really symbolized by the character Atticus .He defends a black man named Tom Robinson even though the majority of the town is raciest and there for against Tom and Atticus. This is similar to the movie Valcury .In this movie a German Nazi attempts to over through Hitler. This is hard to do especially since he is in Germany so every body except a small group of his friends are against him. This shows justice because despite all odds he still does what he knows what he knows is right even when every one else is wrong.
In the book, justice/injustice is portrayed within the story in the trial of Tom Robinson. The jury shows a great deal of injustice when racism overcomes them and they decide he is guilty. They do not take in the fact that just because he is African American doesn’t mean he committed this crime of rape. This reminds me of a show called the loony toons. While E Coyote is trying to blow roadrunner to bits with all of his TNT when all Roadrunner does is just run on the road and enjoy his day. It is unjust for While E Coyote to do this to the poor guy.
Justice is the difference between what is right and what is wrong, and how the law handles situations were there needs to be reinforcement. Also, justice is punishment and making sure everyone and everything is fair.
