Explain how and why Atticus, Tom Robinson, and/or Boo Radley are like mockingbirds. Tell how each does no harm and is innocent and instead brings goodness. Share a connection to a book, movie, or real life event and explain.
Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because he doesn't bother anyone and doesn't cause trouble to anyone. I have a couple of friends that are quiet and wouldn't cause trouble and somtimes would try to fix problems.
Tom Robinson has many character traits that can relate to a mockingbird. He is kinda and does no harm to anyone. For instance,he a helped mayella ewell every day with her chores.
Atticus is like a monkingbird because he doesnt't cause harm to anyone. He tries to prevent it. Like when the mob went to go lynch Tom Robinson, Atticus sat outside the jail so the mob wouldn't lynch Tom Robinson. Alyssa A.
I think that Atticus is sort of like a mockingbird because he didnt do anything wrong to anyone but people still judge him and say mean things to him. They still treat him like somone who has actually done something.
I think Tom Robinson is like a mocking bird because he never does anything wrong and he doesn't bother anyone either. Also, like a mockingbird, Tom just stays in his own place and doesn't intrude anyones space (unless he is asked to). Those are the reasons why I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird in many ways. He does no harm to Mayella but is being set up by the Ewell family. Tom is nice and would not hurt anyone. He is also like a mockingbird because he was trying to help Mayella and not hurt her. This is why I think T-Rob is like a mockingbird. Dennis F.
Boo Radley is like a mockingbird. He is like a mockingbird because he stays in his house causing no trouble to anyone. He is also like a mockingbird because mockingbirds only provide beautiful music for everyone to hear, and Boo Radley only provided gifts for the kids to enjoy. ~sydnee s
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he's a little laid back and never really hurt anyone too bad. Tom Robinson also is like a mockingbird because he din't do anything to bother anyone and doesn't deserve punishment. All he did was help people like Mayella.
I think Tom RObinson is like a mockingbird, because he wants to help people, like Mayella. Also Ithink Atticus is like a mockingbird, because he doesn't hurt somebody.
Atticus is like a mocking bird because he is not mean to anyone for example he defends tom robinson in the trial and he doesnt mis treat any one just like a bird desnt bother anyone Brandon J
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he only brings goodness by defending people who cant defent themselves in court. Boo is like a mocking bird because he did not do anything to anyone and does not deserve punishment. finally Tom Robinson is like a Mockingbird because he only treis to help for example when he would help mayella out for no money.
Tom robinson is in mocking becuase he is inocent and want to help people. Also Atticus is in mockingbird too because he trying to help Tom Robinson. Kevin J
Boo Radley is similar to a mockingbird because he is harmless; I personally believe that he does not leave his house because he is a ware of how hurtful the world is. He is also a very nice person and wants to help people. One of example of this is when Jem’s pants came off and they were ripped. Boo sewed his pants in the way Jem would so that he would not look suspicious. Atticus is also like a mockingbird. I know this because he is a very smart person and does not believe violence is the answer. He also is a very caring person. When the wild dog was roaming around, he did not want to shoot it. When Atticus saw Dill he did not yell at him or tell anyone else. He let Dill stay with the Finch Family.
Atticus is like a Mockingbird because he only tries to help tom Robinson. He also never strikes out in anger at Jem Scout and Dill. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he did not do anything wrong. He also only helped Mayella like a mockingbird only sings.
Tom Robinson is like a mooching bird for two reasons. First, he is a kind person who wishes to help others for no money just like Mayella Ewell. Mockingbirds sing for the benefit of helping people by relaxing them and providing people with their wonderful singing for free. Another reason Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird is because he is not a bully to others. A mockingbird does not bully or tease other birds unlike blue jays that tend to bully mockingbirds and any other bird. Tom is also like a volunteer worker for he just is happy to help any person and he does not take money from them for his services (except his job). This is how Tom Robinson is just like a mockingbird. -Eliite206
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he does no harm. He just lives his life working. He brings goodness because he only helps. He helps by helping Mayella but then gets betrayed by her and has to go to court. That is why I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he didn’t cause any harm to anybody. He’s only a hard working man that helped Mayella when she needed it and didn’t ask for her to pay him or anything. Atticus is like a mockingbird too because all he did was stand up for a black man without being racist or anything. He was only doing what he was told to do and wasn’t asking for any enemies.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he didn’t bother anyone or do anything wrong. He is blamed for something he didn’t do because he was set up. He never hurt anyone because he is a good person. He just helped people like Mayella so it would be a sin to kill an innocent man. But somebody has to be blamed. He obviously didn’t rape her because he was always helpful. Also in the courtroom he was sure of his answers unlike Mayella who had to look at her father and changed her answers and didn’t answer some questions. Ironsicada212
Atticus finch is a lot like a mocking bird. He is a wonderful person and never wants to cause harm. He is always trying to prevent it. For example Atticus is the one to try and stop the lynching when there is a gang of people trying to kill Tom. He is also a very caring person just like a mocking bird. They both are always trying to make things right and not cause any harm at all. Atticus is a lawyer as well so this means he has to be a honest person who is not there to fight he is there to make things right. The mocking bird provides music for the neighborhood and Mr. Finch provides justice in the court. Atticus is very similar to a mockingbird.
Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because mockingbirds don’t cause any harm, but they also are very helpful. This is just like Boo Radley because he doesn’t bother anybody. When Dill, Jem, and Scout go into the Radley’s yard, Boo knows that they are in his house but he doesn’t care. He is nice to the kids a lot of times. He puts toys, gum, and other little things into the knot hole in the tree, until Mr. Radley fills it with cement because the tree was dying. Also when the kids were in the Radley’s yard and they were rushing out under the fence, Jem got his pants stuck on the fence and left them there. When he went back to get them, they were hanging up folded neatly and they were sewn like a kid would do them so he wouldn’t get in trouble. Also, he threw a blanket over Scout after she ran in the fire. hobo216
I believe tom robinson is a mockingbird because he helps mayella with her chores for feeling bad for her. Also he causes no harm to anyone or does any harm and is a victim of racism in the 1930's. Another similar situation happens with the ScoutsBury Boys Trial, in which the boys and tom robinson are convicted of a crime they did not commit. But because of intense racism the scoutsbury boys and tom robinson are convicted of the crime. citykid215
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he comes and helps out Mayella Ewell everyday for about a year for no pay and no food. He dose this out of the good of his heart
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he helps so many people in Maycomb and everyone respects him. They also won’t ever hurt Atticus just like it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird. For example, when Heck Tate wanted to go through Atticus’s door and told Atticus to step aside. Also, Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because all he does is nice things like help other people. Just like how mockingbirds sing for other people and it’s a nice thing. Also, Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because he tries to do the right thing. This is how Atticus, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley are like mockingbirds.
Atticus is an example of a mockingbird in the book To Kill a Mockingbird because he does no harm to anyone and tries to help. He helps by standing up for Tom Robinson. This is like a mockingbird because it sings without asking for something in return. Also he does no harm because he is trying to prove that Tom also didn’t harm anyone. Tom Robinson is a perfect example of a mockingbird because without knowing he is a helping people see that black people are what they were looked down as. He tries to help by not accusing anyone and instead answers the questions to the best of his ability. He is an innocent person caught up between trouble between a father and her daughter. Boo Radley is another example of a mockingbird because he has done anything bad but instead has been talked about. He is innocent in meaning that he so isolated from the rest of the world. A connection to this in my life is some friends that instead of trying to make everything complicated, they will try to solve the problems.
Atticus is a mocking bird because he always tries to be fair. He does not judge people so he never means to harm someone. Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he would never do something bad to someone on purpose. He seems so innocent, hardworking, and kind. Boo Radley is also somewhat of a mockingbird because he minds his own business and doesn’t bother anyone. He keeps to himself so much that people can’t help but start rumors about him. Many of the characters in To Kill a Mockingbird are mockingbirds because they do not bring any harm to people. Horseluvr209
Tom Robinson would be a perfect example of a mockingbird. He is not harmful one bit.For example: he would not push Mayella away, beause he knows right from wrong. That is showing an act of a mockingbird. He is innconcent, but people think of him as guilty. He was very polite and respectful in court, unlike mayella. Also,he was not studdering while answering court questions, he was very confident. Tom Robinson does not bother anyone, so i feel he is like a mickingbird. Jessica K
I agree with -Pakman201 because Atticus does help he does not mean to harm anyone and he tries to help as many people as he can. I also agree because Tom Robinson helps people even though of his color. This is why I agree with -Pakman201.
One person who is like a Mocking Bird is Atticus. Atticus is like a Mocking Bird because he doesnt do anything wrong or say anything wrong to people and yet people keep saying he is because they think it is wrong to try and defend a black person which it really isnt. Another person who is like a Mocking Bird is Bo Radley. Boo Radley is like a Mocking Bird because everyone in his nieghbor hood makes up bad things about him when he might not be a bad person after all. This is why Boo Radley and Atticus are like Mocking Birds -Jennifer D
One of the people in this book is just like a mocking bird. This person is Tom Robinson because Tom does nothing but good things, but people think that he's bad just because he is a colored man. Tom helped Mayella Ewell everyday when he walked by and when Mayella offered to give him money but he refused.
I think Eliite206 is right because all the details he said are correct. Tom Robinson is a good man and is nice to help others. Mockingbirds are nice and genourous birds and can relate to Tom.
I agree with Jennifer D. I think Atticus is like a Mockingbird. He's like a Mockingbird because he does no harm to anyone, he just wants to help like the Mockingbirds just want to make music.
I think Atticus, and Boo Radley are both like mockingbirds. I think Atticus is like a mockingbird because he never tried to hurt anyone and he is also like a mockingbird because he keeps to himself and will spread his wisdom through the world like the mockingbirds song which they sing for all who will hear. Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because he never hurts or bothers anyone and keeps to himself. -ToTaLlYsPiEs405
Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird. One reason he is like a mockingbird is because all he does is try to help Mayella because nobody in her family ever helps her around the house. In return for his chopping of chiffarobes Mayella trys to take advantage of him which made him end up in court. This is like killing a mockingbird because he did no harm like a mockingbird, but is still being taken to court for a crime he did not commit. As you can see Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird.
Atticus is like a mocking bird because he was in trial and he kept quiet and then when it was his turn he kept on pecking on the tree until it breaks which in this case is Mayella or Mr.Bob Ewell.
Atticus is similar to a mocking bird in many ways. One way that he is similar to one is that he doesn’t cause any trouble. In fact, he is very helpful, doing things like defending Tom Robinson from a mob outside the jail. Also, he is much kinder and gentler to everyone, speaking politely to them, calling them things like “Miss” or “Ma’am”. He respects black people more than most of the people of Maycomb, and he even saved Maycomb from danger by killing a rabid dog that was a threat. He is very innocent because he never does things like yell a lot at Jem and Scout. I, myself, have friends that are like this, and are very kind to others. Bubblz420
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird in many ways. For instance, he is innocent in the trial because all he ever did to Mayella was helping her with her chores and around the house. He just wants to help people, regardless of their race. Also, he brings goodness by not judging others who think he’s guilty. He is very respectful to people, like how he always addresses a person as “sir (suh)” or “ma’am.” His life and trial reminds me of the Scottsboro Boys trial. He is innocent of raping Mayella Ewell, even though the jury thinks he isn’t. In the Boys trial, two girls made up the lie that they raped them, but they didn’t, which is the plural case of Tom Robinson. peacelove416
Tom Robinson is definitely like a mockingbird. He does not cause any trouble and is always trying to help. He brings goodness to the entire world, but because he is black he is treated very poorly. No man, even if you’re black, should be treated with a lot of disrespect and feel uncomfortable. He was accused of a crime he did not do and with that his whole life went in the toilet bowl. In the first place he is black so could not get jobs that whites could get. Now that Mayella Ewell and Bob Ewell created this crime that Tom Robinson never really did, nobody wants to take a ‘negro’ or a guy to created the crime. Mayella is ruining Tom’s life when he really didn’t do anything. I can relate this to the movie Radio. Radio is a mentally disabled and the football team decides to lock and tie him up in the closet. He wasn’t doing any harm to anyone; all he was doing was watching the practice. This is related because Tom Robinson wasn’t do any harm, but helping. And Radio wasn’t doing any harm, but watching. lovexo413
Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird. One reason he is like a mockingbird is because all he does is try to help Mayella because nobody in her family ever helps her around the house. In return for his chopping of chiffarobes Mayella trys to take advantage of him which made him end up in court. This is like killing a mockingbird because he did no harm like a mockingbird, but is still being taken to court for a crime he did not commit.I have friends that are quiet and don't do anything wrong, but they get taken advantage of because they're quiet. As you can see Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird.
Tom is like a mockingbird because he doesnt do any harm to people. Also a mocking bird is very kind to people and tom was always helping Mayella for free. This is why Tom is like a mockingbird. Nick C
There is a connection with the idea that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they only produce good for the world and no evil that relates to the rest of the book. One example of this is the mockingbird relating to Atticus, and the killer to Bob Ewell. Atticus Finch only tries to support his community, and never does it any harm. However, in chapters 22-23 Mr. Ewell threatens Atticus’s life, because Atticus is standing in his way of suing Tom Robinson. This makes Ewell’s threat a sin, just like killing a mockingbird for Jem with his air rifle.
I think that Boo Radley is like a mockingbird. One reason is that he doesn't bother anybody. Also, Boo tries to help people. An example of this is when he put the blanket on Scout. That is why Boo is like a mockingbird.
I think that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird for many reasons. The first reason I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird is because he doesn't cause problems or trouble. Also, he always helps Mayella Ewell with her daily chores such as chopping wood or busting a chiffarobe. My last reason why I believe that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird is that he always minds his own buisness and doesn't trespass on others peoples property unless asked to enter. These are three reasons why I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird. -Katelyn S.
Mockingbirds do no harm to anyone, just as Atticus, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley do. Atticus is never judgemental and sticks to his oppinion and what he believes in and he always wants to help people. For example, most white people hate colored people but Atticus is in trial with Tom Robinson and is actually trying to help him. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he knows not to bother people because he is black and as it shows in the book he is very helpful. Mayella Ewell had him do jobs for her almost every day, she offered him a nickel and he refused to take it. He helped her out of the goodness of his heart. Boo Radley, he never comes out of his house, how can he be bothersome? People ike Jem, Scout, and Dill are always bothering him to come out of his house. He never does anything to them, they should not invade his privacy. Also, you can tell he has a good heart because in one of the chapters he put a blanket over Scout because it was obvious she was cold. In conclusion, these are the reasons why Atticus, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley are like Mockingbirds.
Atticus and Tom Robinson are all like mockingbirds in many ways. Atticus is like a mockingbird because he is harmless. He had the “deadliest shot in Maycomb” and was known as “One shot Finch,” but refuses to use his ability to shoot because he feels that he has an advantage over the animals. Even when he was faced with a dog with rabies, he didn’t want to kill him. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he only does good deeds and never does anything cruel. For example, he always helped Mayella Ewell out of pure goodness and never asked for anything in return. Tom and the black community are also like mocking birds because they are never looking for trouble, while the racists in Maycomb are like blue jays and look for trouble.
Atticus is like a mockingbird for many reasons. First he never wants to bother anyone, start anything, or be mean. Like when Bob Ewell spit on Atticus, Atticus didn’t start a fight with him he just walked away. Second Atticus causes only good things; he tried to make it so Tom Robinson would not be charged for a faulty crime against Mayella Ewell for rape. Lastly he is good person and doesn’t want to harm anyone. Atticus doesn’t try to hurt people on purpose. This is like Boo Radley because Boo was giving gifts to the children which bring good to the world. So that is why Atticus is like a mockingbird. peacexo414
Tom is like a mocking bird because he didnt do anything but the jury said he was guilty. He will prabably be killed. Tom shouldnt be kill just because Mayella was caught by her father. Ian M.
Tom Robinson is an example of a mockingbird. Like a mockingbird, he does no harm to anyone; he just wants to help, like he did with Mayella. He feels bad for her, since she has no one to help her with the chores, and volunteers to do them for her. Even though he has his own work at home, he still does it, and never asks for payment. He is a kind soul, and generally good person. He is very respectful to everyone, calling them “Sir” and “Miss”. He is even respectful to those who treat him horribly. We see an example of this in the trial, when Mr. Gilmer is cross-examining him, and treating him like a criminal and Tom Robinson is still polite to him, calmly answering his questions. The life and trial of Robinson reminds me of an actual case that took place in Alabama, the Scottsboro Boy’s Trial. In this trial, 9 black boys are accused of raping 2 white girls, just like the case of Tom Robinson. Even when evidence comes into light that they are innocent, the juries are very racist toward them. This is what Robinson had to encounter during his trial. -vanilla418
I think that Tom Robinson is comparable to a Mockingbird because they both are good. They both do not harm other people and are not aggressive. They both do good things for the community. For example Tom Robinson helps Mayella out with chores around the house asking for no pay when he himself is a poor person, needing the money himself, just like how a mocking bird does no harm to the community but sings beautifully asking for nothing in return. Tom Robinson also doesn’t go around harming people or threatening people, he is a gentle and kind person, just like the Mocking bird who does not harm or bully other birds like Blue Jays. That is how Tom Robinson and a Mockingbird are similar. The Man 411
I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird. I think this because he only did good things for mayella but she said that he rapped her and beat her up. Also atticus is like a mockingbird. i think this because he only does good things for people but then people make fun of him for it.
Tom RoBinson is simiLar to a mocKinGbird because he doEs no harm. He helps Mayella Ewell everyDay and never dId anything bad to her. Boo Radley iS also similar to a mockingbird, because he dOesn’t harm anyOne. He sTays in his houSe all day and doesn’t bOther Anyone. He alsO helPed ScOut by putting a blanket around her on a cOld night.
I think Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he will help Mayella with her work even though he has a crippled arm and he has to go to work for Link Deas. He also seems like a very nice person who would never cause any harm. I think Atticus is a mockingbird because he wanted to help Tom with his case. He didn’t refuse to do it like someone else might have done. Also, he is helpful when needed like when he helped Miss Maudie with her house that burned down. I can relate to both of these examples because I have a broken arm and I help people when I can. I will also stand up for people when I can just like Atticus.
Many people say not to kill a mocking bird cause they do no harm to the world, all they give us is music to our ears. Tom Robinson is very similar to a mocking bird because he does not do anything bad, and all he does is care and help people with their chores.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he doesn’t do any harm to anyone. He helps people like Mayella Ewell by doing her favors for no money in exchange. He was wrongly accused for a crime, similar to how mockingbirds are often mistaken for a bad thing.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is black. People thought that he was a horrible horrible man but, in reality he did nothing wrong to make people think that. He is a hard working man who is a very nice man who is harmless also because he has a useless left arm. That is why Tom is like a mockingbird BY: Julian S.
Tom Robinson has many character traits that are similar to a mockingbird. He is kind and helps Mayella out for no money. He was accused for a crime which he didn't do kind of like how mockingbirds are like because they are mistaken for bad things. Also Boo Radley is a like a mockingbird because he stays inside and harms no one and minding his own buisiness. dirtbikerider
Tom Robinson has many character traits that are similar to a mockingbird. He is kind and helps Mayella out for no money. He also has a family and works for an honest living. He obviously could not have done it because of his right arm. His crippled state makes him more of a mockingbird Rich A.
I think that tom robinson is like a mockingbird in this situation. i think this becausre tom never hurt anybody just like a mocking bird never hurt anybody. so killing tom would be like killing a mockingbird.
It is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they do no harm to anyone. Atticus is like a mocking bird because he doesnt cause trouble he trys preventing it. All he is trying to do is defend Tom Robinson which is causing no harm to anyone. Also Boo just stays in his house minding his own buisness so he is also like a mockingbird. -Alessandra V
i think that some of the assumptions made about boo radley are a little exagerated. if he is always in his house, how do people know so much about him? he hasnt hurt a fly and he is really being wrongly accused. what if he is a clean cut gentleman? maybe he dosent even eat squirells!
Atticus is like a mockingbird. I think this because he is a very kind and honest man. He helps and treats people equally. For example in the book Atticus is defending Tom Robinson,a black man, who was accused of raping a white woman. He knew Tom didn't really have a chance at winning the case but still wanted to help. Also, Atticus is like a mockingbird because he never gets or starts fights. He alswys remains calm liek when Bob Ewell spit on him. These are some example of why Atticus is like a mockingbird. -Lindsay M.
I think Tom Robinson is the most obvious mockingbird in To Kill a Mockingbird. Mockingbirds dont hurt anyone so it is a sin to kill them. Tom Robinson didn't hurt Mayella like everyone thinks. He was just trying to get away from her because he knew he would get in trouble either way. Tom Robinson is a mockingbird in this book. David K.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird in this story because he is completely innocent and is getting accused of something he did not do. It's kind of like a sin to be killing Tom because he was always helping Mayella Ewell and not doing anything to hurt her or get her in trouble. He is innocent and there is no reason to kill him, so it's a sin to be killing Tom Robinson, just like how it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. Kirsten E.
Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he is innocent. He didn't rape Ms. Mayella and is only being accussed of this because of his skin color. Atticus told the children not to shoot any mockingbirds because they are so innocent. He probobly wouldn't want them to stereotype Tom Robinson without putting themselves in his shoes first either. Jake D.
There are many people who are mockingbirds. Atticus said, “A mockingbird is a bird that does not hurt anyone and bring beauty. One person is Boo Radley. Boo stays in his house for most of the day, but does not hurt a fly. He leaves little gifts for Jem, Dill, and Scout. Also he comes over and puts a jacket over Scout the night of the fire. Tom Robinson is also another example a mockingbird. He was accused of raping a girl, named Mayella Ewell. Link Deas said, “Tom Robinson has not do one thing and is a hardworking person. This is why Tom Robinson and Boo Radley. IvMattyPownzerVi606
Tom Robibinson is like a mocking bird because the Ewells wanted him killed for a crime that he didn't commit, just like if a mockingbird is killed for singing. All he was trying to do was help Mayella with some chores around the house and she attacked him, but even though all of the evidence in the trial went in Tom's favor, the jury still said he was guilty and he was sentenced to death. -Nick T.
Tom Robinson and Atticus are both like mockingbird for many reasons. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is very kind and he wouldn’t hurt anyone. Mockingbirds are nice birds that would never do anything bad. Atticus is like a mockingbird because he does not cause any harm. He is a nice guy who wouldn’t do anything wrong. ginger604
Atticus, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are like mockingbirds. Atticus didn’t hurt anyone. He tried to prove Tom Robinson was innocent. Mr. Ewell said that Tom Robinson raped Mayella when she kissed him. Tom Robinson was trying to help Mayella Ewell chop something up. Boo Radley brought goodness to Scout because when Miss Maudie’s house was on fire Scout was outside in front of the Radley place and Boo Radley came out and put a blanket on Scout. That is how Atticus, Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are like mockingbirds.
Atticus Finch is like a mockingbird because he only ever tries to do good. He never thinks about doing anything bad, and if he ever did he would admit it because he wants to live the same way in his house as in public. An example of how he is only good is the fact that he gave up shooting. Atticus was one of the best shooters in Maycomb County, he could hit anything, but he decided to give it up because he didnt think that he was giving the birds a fair shot at living when he could just hit them down in a second. Atticus's prey didnt have a prayer at living once Atticus aimed at them, and Atticus knew it. That is why Atticus is a mockingbird.
Tom Robbinson is a mockingbird because of how good and innocent he was. When he was helping out Mayella with her chores it was nothing more than pity for a poor girl. He honestly believed her to be a poor young girl, who wasnt really beneath him the way white people saw blacks, but she was pitiful. That was his downfall. Pitying a white person was considered so wrong only because the whites thought they were too good for a black man's pity. However, Tom wasn't thinking that he was doing anything wrong. He just thought he was being helpful. That is why Tom is a mockingbird, his total innocence makes him a mockingbird, for he was doing nothing but "lookin pretty and sining" as Atticus would say.
Boo Radley is a mockingbird because he is stuck in his house by his father. He helped Scout, Dill, and Jem in their imaginary stories by hiding some toys in a tree for them. He also placed a blanket on Scout’s back when Ms. Maudie’s house was burned to a crisp. Another person who was like a mockingbird is Tom Robinson. He is a mockingbird because he was helping Mayella with her work because he felt sorry because he saw that no one was helping her. Another reason he is like a mockingbird is because when Mayella wanted him to kiss her, he said no and he had to push her, when what he really anted to do was not to harm her in any way.
Atticus and Boo Radley are like mockingbirds for many reasons. Mockingbirds are harmless and so are Atticus and Boo Radley. Atticus is like one because he is nice to every one and tries to bring peace to every one. Boo Radley is one because he treats Scout and Jem with respect and tries to help them out. Lastly they arent judgmental. wather613
Atticus just wants to help people.Even though he is white he still tried to defend Tom Robinson. Just like Tom Robinson just wanted to help Mayella, but the outcome was, he was accused of rape. Boo Radley is somewhat like a mocking bird. He is locked up forever in his house for an unknown reason. People tell different stories why he is locked up in his house. This is how these people are all like mockingbirds because of their innocence. Jan-M. I.
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he helps people and he doesn’t hurt anyone, and he is also fair. He doesn’t harm anyone, either, he tries to prevent it. For example, Atticus was the one who tried to stop the mob/gang from lynching when there were people trying to kill Tom Robinson. Another example of this was when Bob Ewell spit on him. Atticus, unlike many others didn’t try to start a fight or call him bad names or anything like that. He just walked away. Mockingbirds don’t harm anyone and they just make nice noises. Those are just a few ways of how Atticus is similar to a mockingbird.
Atticus is innocent and does no harm by defending a black man. He a lawyer he does not harm and know a lot. Another person is Tom Robinson people accused him of rapeing mayella ewell. All he did was doing work for he like bust her chiffarobe. And he couldn’t rape her because he got his arm stuck in a machine.
Atticus and Tom Robinson are all like Mockingbirds and do no harm and is innocent and instead bring goodness. Firstly Atticus is a mockingbird because he does not judge people by the color of their skin or physical appearance. He fights for Tom Robinson (a black man) and tries to protect him from a crime he didn’t commit. This proves that Atticus is like a mockingbird because he tries to bring goodness, justice and innocence. Tom Robinson the defendant was also like a mockingbird. He helped Mayella (victim) garden and clean from his heart and did the chores at home. However he was betrayed by the person he helped. This proves that Tom Robinson was like a mockingbird. This is why the Atticus and Tom Robinson are like mockingbirds.
Atticus is the mockingbird in the book to kill a mockingbird because he only brings goodness by defending people who can’t defend themselves in court. Tom Robinson is also like a Mockingbird because he only wants to help all the people. For example, he was going to help out Mayella by working for no charge. Lastly, Boo Radley is like a mocking bird because he tries to help out all the kids by putting gum in the tree and by stitching up Jems pants when he got caught in the fence. In conclusion these are some people I think are mocking Birds in the book To Kill a Mockingbird.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird. Tom Robinson does nothing wrong, he is very nice and just helps people. Mayella is like a blue jay because she is like a bully; she just tries to get her friend in trouble for something that he didn’t do to keep her father out of jail. Boo Radley is also like a mockingbird because he also only helps people and hasn’t done anything wrong in years.
I think that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird. I think this because Tom Robinson doesn't cause problems or trouble. Also, he always helps Mayella Ewell with her daily chores such as chopping wood or busting a chiffarobe. Another reason why I believe that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird is that he always minds his own business and doesn't trespass on other peoples property unless asked to enter. This is why I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
Tom Robinson has many values that make him a mockingbird. He is crippled, he is poor, he is honest, he is kind, he is a hard worker, and he has a loving, nice family that he looks after. If he gets killed, his family will not be able to live Setinal44
Atticus, Tom Robinson, and Boo Radley all represent mockingbirds. None of them has done anything wrong, but they have all received criticism. Atticus is a good man, stands up for others, and has never hurt anyone, but he is always the target of criticism in Maycomb. Tom Robinson never gave anyone trouble, worked hard, and supported his family. His only crime was being too kind and helpful to Mayella Ewell. Boo Radley has not done anything to anyone, but he is mocked and made fun of for staying to himself. All of these people have only brought good to the community, but they may be the most disliked people in town. This reminds me of the part in Of Mice and Men, when Curley picks a fight with Lennie, who did not do anything wrong. Lennie ended up breaking Curley’s hand, which taught Curley not to bother someone who did not deserve it.
In many ways Atticus is like a mockinbird. One example from of this is how he raises his kids. Since he raises them to treat everyone equally and nobody is different (even afrian americans) it shows he kind to everyone with no exceptions. Another example is that Atticus is helping Tom Robbinson when no one else will. This shows that Atticus is willing to step up to the plate and he doesn’t care what others say even though he’s defending a black man. A third example is how he trys to protect Tom from the llynching that the gang was goin g to do to him. This shows that Atticus not only cares about Tom going to jail but also that he cares for his well being. galacticgirl807
I think that all three of those guys are like mockingbirds. Atticus is like a mockingbird because he is a good person and a mockingbird is a good bird. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he did no harm to someone and yet he still got punished. Boo Radley is a lot like a mockingbird because he just stays in his house and has nothing to do with anyone. He doesn’t bring any harm to anyone and people still make assumptions about him. People are sort of afraid of him and they think that he does bad things like stab people in their legs. Overall all of those people are a lot like mockingbird because they do well in the world and never do anything bad, so it is wrong to kill anyone that is like a mockingbird. ~cyberboy808
Innocence is an integral theme in To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus does no harm and is innocent by his choices in life. He is the best shot in Maycomb but never even carries a gun. He also chose to defend Tom even at his own expense. Tom shows innocence by his kindness and the good in his heart. He did all those chores for Mayella for not even a penny because he felt sorry for her. He also acted very calm and nice to everyone during court even after he was falsely accused of rape. Boo Radley also shows some innocence in his actions. He may be very secluded or even a little strange but he has goodness in him. This is shown when he leaves objects for Scout in the tree and when he sews Jem’s pants. Probably one of the best examples of a Mockingbird is Aerith from Final Fantasy 7. She was the last of her kind and never seemed to get angry or hate even the cruelest of people. She ends up dying praying for a miracle to save her town and friends and is murdered in cold blood. This_is_Sparta!!!21
Tom Robinson is like a Mockingbird because he helps people but he is blamed for the crime even when hes innocent. He helped people because he stood up for what he believed in. He chose to testify against Mayella so he could be innocent. He is being attacked for "raping" a white women. Everyone wants to lynch him even when he didn't do anything to anyone.
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he never does anything to harm anyone and all he does is help defend people in court. He is also just a good person. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he never does anything bad. Also, he is very nice to Mayella Ewell becasue he helps her do things that require somone strong. Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because he never bothers anyone and he even left gifts for Jem and Scout. Boo also gave Scout a blanket.
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is innocent and doesn't harm anyone. People think he raped Mayella because he is black. This shows how bad racism is. Just becuase Tom Robsinson was black, it doesn't mean that he is guilty. He shows his goodness becuase he does chores for Mayella without letting her pay them. He does this because he feels sorry for her. Truly, Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
Also, Boo Radley is like a mockingbird. He also doesn't cause any harm, but people also sterotype him. People believe that he is a bad man, when they haven't even gotten to know him. He shows his goodness when he sews Jem's pants. He didn't have to do this, however, he chose to from the goodness of his heart. As you can see, Boo Radley is like a mockingbird.
All three men are considered mockingbirds in my opinion. Atticus is a very good person and is a rare person to come around to. A mockingbird is one of the rarest birds and does no hard to anyone. That is why Atticus is just like a mockingbird. Tom Robinson is exactly like a mockingbird because he is a person that didn't do anthing and is still getting punished for it.
I think that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is accused of raping Mayella Ewell and almost everyone believes that it is true even though Tom is innocent and Mayella was the one that forced herself on him. Also,Tom brings goodness by being such a loyal worker to Mr. Link Deas and being nice enough to help Mayella bust up the chiffarobe.
There are outsiders in To Kill a Mockingbird. One outsider is Mr. Dolphus Raymond. He’s an outsider because he is married to a black woman and lives on the border of the black community. He is an outsider by choice. He lets people think he drinks alcohol out of his bag all the time and is always drunk so they think that he can’t help himself. They don’t know that lives that way because he wants to. Another outsider in this book are the Ewells. The people in Maycomb think of them as animals. They live by the dump and don’t follow any of the rules. Their children only go to school on the first day. They don’t really choose to be misfits, that is just the way their family is. Also, the people who live in the black community are considered outsiders by the white people who live in Maycomb
Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he is a very innocent man who would never rape someone and who seems to be a good husband and father and a very good person. Atticus is a mockingbird because he believes in the truth and he is very trustworthy and honest he teaches his children to the right thing and to never act racist or say any racist comments. Boo Radley is a mockingbird because he is not a freak like everyone says he is he is just minding his own business. Jem realizes that the true reason Boo Radley stays in his house all the time and he says, “I think I’m beginning to understand why Boo Radley’s stayed shut in his house all this time…it’s because he wants to stay inside.”
There are some characters in the story that are like a mockingbird. Atticus is one of them. He is very innocent and honest. He is one of the few characters who are not racist. During the trial of Tom Robinson, he really tries to convince the jury about what really happened. He always looks to do the right thing and change a person’s life. Tom Robinson is another character who is like a mockingbird. He is also very honest and innocent. He is a good man and still feels sorry for Mayella even after she accused him of raping her. In conclusion, some characters in the story have the character traits of a mockingbird.
Tom Robinson is a major mocking bird. He does no harm to anyone. He keeps to himself other than the times that he helps Mayella. He did nothing wrong, it was Mayella who kissed him and he just ran. She knew she was caught so she started screamiong and blamed Tom, and innocent mocking bird, of raping her. Tom was just trying to free himself and to make himself innocent by going into trial. If he didnt then everybody would lynch him. Even if he did then he would be lynched so either way he would die. He wanted to do the right thing before dying. SHAHRYar AHMED
Yes, it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. It is a sin for many reasons. One reason is that a mockingbird symbolizes innocence. So if you kill a mocking bird it is like killing an innocent person. Another reason why it I a sin to kill a mockingbird is that a mockingbird sings beautiful songs. For example when Jem got his gun he was told to never kill a mockingbird because then there beautiful songs will not be sung anymore. Also if you kill a mockingbird many people get mad because the beauty of the bird is gone.
Tom Robinson is The Mockingbird. He is completely innocent and has probably never done anything disrespectful in his life. The people who do not believe him are sinners because they want to kill him, which would be a sin. Scout unveiled the fact of Tom Robinson's likeness to a mockingbird to Mr. Cunningham using only her innocence. Tom Robinson's disability has not made him bitter towards others, for he uses respect in everything that he does.
It is considered a sin to kill a mockingbird because they don’t ever harm anything. The just make beautiful music for everyone to enjoy. Atticus is like a mockingbird because he is always trying to help his community. Almost everything he does helps someone else. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because everyday, he would help Mayella Ewell on his way home from work. He never hurt anyone, contrary to his sentence. Kids who get bullied in school are also often like mockingbirds. They work hard in school and most of the time are genuinely good kids. But they are made fun of and picked on anyways.
The idea of the mockingbird is used in many ways throughout To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus is like a mockingbird in the way that he does no harm. Atticus has the ability to kill almost anything in one shot. Although Atticus can hurt anything in a simple pull of his trigger, he chooses not to use or gloat about his ability. When Atticus did not want to kill the rabid dog it shows that he values all life and would never harm anything if the situation did not completely call for it. Tom Robinson is also like a mockingbird in the way that he helps people and never tries to hurt them. Mockingbirds only play beautiful music for the joy of people to listen, when Tom only helps others before helping himself. Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because all he does is stay in his house and also does no harm. All three of these resemble the mockingbird in very similar ways. The idea of the mockingbird is also found in the movie Chicago. In the story a woman was convicted of murder. This woman was innocent, but was still executed. This woman was like a mockingbird who did no harm.
Tom Robinson is like a mocking bird for a few reason reasons. One reason is that he wanted to help out Mayella Ewell for free because he felt bad for her. Also, Tom is innocent just like mocking birds. This is how Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
In this novel, Tom Robinson shows very similar qualities to a mockingbird. A mockingbird only brings good things to the world, singing its songs for everyone to hear. Tom Robinson was only trying to help Mayella get her work done and intended on inflicting no harm on her. In the text, it says that, “It’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” Since Tom was falsely accused of raping this girl, it is seen through the eyes of Atticus and many of the others throughout the town that it is a foul action to take the like of this man for no reason. Bulletproof Elmo419
In this book there is lots of similarities from Tom Robinson and a Mockingbird. Mockingbirds are very unique because they do no harm but bring peaceful music. That’s why throughout the book they repeat that line. Tom Robinson is almost the same, he did no harm, and he had just done his job. He just brings goodness.
Boo Radley is like a mockingbird because he doesn't bother anyone and doesn't cause trouble to anyone. I have a couple of friends that are quiet and wouldn't cause trouble and somtimes would try to fix problems.
ReplyDeleteCourtney K.
Tom Robinson has many character traits that can relate to a mockingbird. He is kinda and does no harm to anyone. For instance,he a helped mayella ewell every day with her chores.
ReplyDeleteTom robinson is like a mockingbird because he just wants to help people. He also is like a mocking bird because he is inocent in his trial.Kevin A.
ReplyDeleteTom robinson is like a mockingbird because he is very nice and delicate and he would never hurt a fly.
ReplyDeleteAJ Adinolfi
Atticus is like a monkingbird because he doesnt't cause harm to anyone. He tries to prevent it. Like when the mob went to go lynch Tom Robinson, Atticus sat outside the jail so the mob wouldn't lynch Tom Robinson.

ReplyDeleteI think that Atticus is sort of like a mockingbird because he didnt do anything wrong to anyone but people still judge him and say mean things to him.

ReplyDelete-Stephen C.
ReplyDeleteDennis F.
Boo Radley is like a mockingbird. He is like a mockingbird because he stays in his house causing no trouble to anyone. He is also like a mockingbird because mockingbirds only provide beautiful music for everyone to hear, and Boo Radley only provided gifts for the kids to enjoy.

Atticus is like a mockingbird because he's a little laid back and never really hurt anyone too bad. Tom Robinson also is like a mockingbird because he din't do anything to bother anyone and doesn't deserve punishment. All he did was help people like Mayella.
ReplyDeleteAnthony B
I think Tom RObinson is like a mockingbird, because he wants to help people, like Mayella.
ReplyDeleteAlso Ithink Atticus is like a mockingbird, because he doesn't hurt somebody.

Atticus is like a mocking bird because he is not mean to anyone for example he defends tom robinson in the trial and he doesnt mis treat any one just like a bird desnt bother anyone
ReplyDeleteBrandon J
Atticus is like a mockingbird because he only brings goodness by defending people who cant defent themselves in court. Boo is like a mocking bird because he did not do anything to anyone and does not deserve punishment. finally Tom Robinson is like a Mockingbird because he only treis to help for example when he would help mayella out for no money.

Atticus is like a monkingbird because he never hurt anyone. Also, Tom is like a monkingbird because he didn't do anything to harm or bother anyone.

Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird, because he doesn't bother anyone, and he helped Mayella like mockingbird always sings to make people fell happy.
ReplyDeleteGina C
Tom robinson is in mocking becuase he is inocent and want to help people. Also Atticus is in mockingbird too because he trying to help Tom Robinson. Kevin J
ReplyDeleteI agree that Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is innocent, he did not do anything to Mayella Ewell.
ReplyDelete~Kayla B.
ReplyDeleteNumber 213
Atticus is like a Mockingbird because he only tries to help tom Robinson. He also never strikes out in anger at Jem Scout and Dill. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he did not do anything wrong. He also only helped Mayella like a mockingbird only sings.
ReplyDeleteGreenBay218
ReplyDelete-Eliite206
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he does no harm. He just lives his life working. He brings goodness because he only helps. He helps by helping Mayella but then gets betrayed by her and has to go to court. That is why I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird.
ReplyDeleteDC205
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he didn’t cause any harm to anybody. He’s only a hard working man that helped Mayella when she needed it and didn’t ask for her to pay him or anything. Atticus is like a mockingbird too because all he did was stand up for a black man without being racist or anything. He was only doing what he was told to do and wasn’t asking for any enemies.
ReplyDeletelalokita207
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he didn’t bother anyone or do anything wrong. He is blamed for something he didn’t do because he was set up. He never hurt anyone because he is a good person. He just helped people like Mayella so it would be a sin to kill an innocent man. But somebody has to be blamed. He obviously didn’t rape her because he was always helpful. Also in the courtroom he was sure of his answers unlike Mayella who had to look at her father and changed her answers and didn’t answer some questions.
ReplyDeleteIronsicada212
ReplyDeleteRubberDuckey221
ReplyDeletehobo216
I believe tom robinson is a mockingbird because he helps mayella with her chores for feeling bad for her. Also he causes no harm to anyone or does any harm and is a victim of racism in the 1930's. Another similar situation happens with the ScoutsBury Boys Trial, in which the boys and tom robinson are convicted of a crime they did not commit. But because of intense racism the scoutsbury boys and tom robinson are convicted of the crime.
ReplyDeletecitykid215
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he comes and helps out Mayella Ewell everyday for about a year for no pay and no food. He dose this out of the good of his heart
ReplyDeleteSkye Z
ReplyDeleteEl Dumpling217
ReplyDelete-Pakman201
Atticus is a mocking bird because he always tries to be fair. He does not judge people so he never means to harm someone. Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because he would never do something bad to someone on purpose. He seems so innocent, hardworking, and kind. Boo Radley is also somewhat of a mockingbird because he minds his own business and doesn’t bother anyone. He keeps to himself so much that people can’t help but start rumors about him. Many of the characters in To Kill a Mockingbird are mockingbirds because they do not bring any harm to people.
ReplyDeleteHorseluvr209
Tom Robinson would be a perfect example of a mockingbird. He is not harmful one bit.For example: he would not push Mayella away, beause he knows right from wrong. That is showing an act of a mockingbird. He is innconcent, but people think of him as guilty. He was very polite and respectful in court, unlike mayella. Also,he was not studdering while answering court questions, he was very confident. Tom Robinson does not bother anyone, so i feel he is like a mickingbird.

I agree with El Dumpling217 on how Atticus and Tom Robinson are like mocking birds. They always do nice things for everyone.
ReplyDeleteBigD208

I agree with Pakman201 because he brought up how a mochingbird is a good helper and innocent just like Boo Radley and Atticus Finch.

This is why Boo Radley and Atticus are like Mocking Birds

ReplyDeleteOne of the people in this book is just like a mocking bird. This person is Tom Robinson because Tom does nothing but good things, but people think that he's bad just because he is a colored man. Tom helped Mayella Ewell everyday when he walked by and when Mayella offered to give him money but he refused.

ReplyDelete-ToTaLlYsPiEs405
Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird. One reason he is like a mockingbird is because all he does is try to help Mayella because nobody in her family ever helps her around the house. In return for his chopping of chiffarobes Mayella trys to take advantage of him which made him end up in court. This is like killing a mockingbird because he did no harm like a mockingbird, but is still being taken to court for a crime he did not commit. As you can see Tom Robinson is very much like a mockingbird.
ReplyDelete404
Atticus is like a mocking bird because he was in trial and he kept quiet and then when it was his turn he kept on pecking on the tree until it breaks which in this case is Mayella or Mr.Bob Ewell.
ReplyDeleteMatt Lettick
ReplyDeleteBubblz420
ReplyDeletepeacelove416

ReplyDeleteNick C
There is a connection with the idea that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they only produce good for the world and no evil that relates to the rest of the book. One example of this is the mockingbird relating to Atticus, and the killer to Bob Ewell. Atticus Finch only tries to support his community, and never does it any harm. However, in chapters 22-23 Mr. Ewell threatens Atticus’s life, because Atticus is standing in his way of suing Tom Robinson. This makes Ewell’s threat a sin, just like killing a mockingbird for Jem with his air rifle.

ReplyDelete-Katelyn S.

ReplyDeleteChicle406
ReplyDeletepeacexo414
Tom is like a mocking bird because he didnt do anything but the jury said he was guilty. He will prabably be killed. Tom shouldnt be kill just because Mayella was caught by her father.
ReplyDeleteIan M.
ReplyDelete-vanilla418
ReplyDeleteThe Man 411
I think Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird. I think this because he only did good things for mayella but she said that he rapped her and beat her up. Also atticus is like a mockingbird. i think this because he only does good things for people but then people make fun of him for it.

ReplyDeleteBrianna F
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he doesn’t do any harm to anyone. He helps people like Mayella Ewell by doing her favors for no money in exchange. He was wrongly accused for a crime, similar to how mockingbirds are often mistaken for a bad thing.
ReplyDeletetennisismylife412
Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is black. People thought that he was a horrible horrible man but, in reality he did nothing wrong to make people think that. He is a hard working man who is a very nice man who is harmless also because he has a useless left arm. That is why Tom is like a mockingbird

I think that tom robinson is like a mockingbird in this situation. i think this becausre tom never hurt anybody just like a mocking bird never hurt anybody. so killing tom would be like killing a mockingbird.
ReplyDeleteIt is a sin to kill a mockingbird because they do no harm to anyone. Atticus is like a mocking bird because he doesnt cause trouble he trys preventing it. i think that some of the assumptions made about boo radley are a little exagerated. if he is always in his house, how do people know so much about him? he hasnt hurt a fly and he is really being wrongly accused. what if he is a clean cut gentleman? maybe he dosent even eat squirells!

ReplyDelete-Lindsay M.
ReplyDeleteDavid K.
ReplyDeleteKirsten E.
Jake D.
ReplyDeleteThere are many people who are mockingbirds.

Tom Robinson and Atticus are both like mockingbird for many reasons. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he is very kind and he wouldn’t hurt anyone.
ReplyDeletecheesemaster603
ReplyDeleteTom Robbinson is a mockingbird because of how good and innocent he was.

ReplyDeleteJan-M.

Tom Robinson has many values that make him a mockingbird. He is crippled, he is poor, he is honest, he is kind, he is a hard worker, and he has a loving, nice family that he looks after. If he gets killed, his family will not be able to live
ReplyDeleteSetinal44

ReplyDelete~cyberboy808
ReplyDeleteThis_is_Sparta!!!21
Tom Robinson is like a Mockingbird because he helps people but he is blamed for the crime even when hes innocent. He helped people because he stood up for what he believed in. He chose to testify against Mayella so he could be innocent. He is being attacked for "raping" a white women. Everyone wants to lynch him even when he didn't do anything to anyone.

ReplyDeleteAtticus is like a mockingbird because he never does anything to harm anyone and all he does is help defend people in court. He is also just a good person. Tom Robinson is like a mockingbird because he never does anything bad. Also, he is very nice to Mayella Ewell becasue he helps her do things that require somone strong.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Boo Radley is like a mockingbird.

ReplyDeleteTom Robinson is The Mockingbird.
